The Query Letters went out!
I sent six query letters out via email on Memorial day. It was heart-pounding to press the "send" button. I know I have to prepare for the rejection letters, (if I am even lucky enough to get those!) but I still felt like it was a step in the right direction. At the very least, it gave me some experience summarizing and trying to form a "hook" for Poughkeepsie. I still love the story, which is nice because I have read it a boopazillion times. I still cry at "Patterns" like someone is pinching me. So now starts the waiting, which is a very inactive thing to do, but the manuscript is clean and as ready as I will ever get it. Hopefully, I am another step closer to getting Poughkeepsie back into the world where it belongs. ~MTK

Good luck! I didn't get a chance to read Poughkeepsie but I heard it pimped on the Twigasm podcast and was very sad to have missed it! Hopefully I'll be reading it soon :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's just awesome. Can't wait to read that story again, since you got me hooked, woman, hooked!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful story and if you get rejection letters, they sure as hell don't know what they're missing.
Best of luck <3
That's great! :) Good luck with this! I really hope you'll get lucky and we'll be reading your book soon. :) I think it will only be a matter of time.

That is amazing!! Poughkeepsie definitely does need to be back in the world. I miss your amazing characters and cant wait to have it on my bookshelf <3
ReplyDeleteWhen it gets published, please make sure your new publicist gets you some book signings in Maine. If that is not possible, I am willing to travel to get a signed copy. This BOOK will be published, it is an amazing story and you are an amazing woman. I know you won't give up until you see it in print.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so exciting -- I really can't wait to see a copy of Poughkeepsie on my bookshelf! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed tightly until you get a response! =]
ReplyDeleteOh good luck , cant wait to read that wonderful story again!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I can't wait to be able to read it. I am so sorry that I missed the opportunity. It sounds like an amazing story. I was immediately hooked on the short part I was able to read. I will continue checking back here looking forward to seeing your updates!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad see that you are trying to publish this story. I read the first chapter, but missed the rest of it, so I'm dying to read it. I even had a dream where I was walking past the bookstore at the mall and in the display window was Poughkeepsie by Mrs. The King. Strange, I know.
ReplyDeleteI actually had this story on my bookmarks for a long time but as I was keeping up with another lot of stories I just kept it. I'm gonnna be honest, I read the summary and was interested but didn't really catch my eye so I just waited a little bit more. How I was wrong... I got to read the first chapter and was "WOW" this looks awesome, why did I delayed this? Of course it was taken already :/ But I'm glad that you're trying to publish it because it really seems a REALLY good story that deserves it's own rights. I just hope, that in case you don't put it on Portugal or London that it will be at Amazon.com :) Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI really hope this gets published as I was one of the unlucky few that did not get to read this online. I would love to see it in stores and be able to buy and read it. I loved the first chapter of Poughkeepsie from the very beginning of the page. Your writing style is so eye catching and you immediately feel for these characters. Please update soon with news and I wish you all the luck.
ReplyDeleteI never got to read Poughkeepsie but now since I read the first chapter I was hooked. I hope to see Poughkeepsie and read it. I really admire how you write from the soul. Keep up the great work!! I wish you the best of luck on Poughkeepsie.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I need to keep up with stories that are taken down. If not I miss finding out that the author is going to try to publish them, and I'm definitely someone who would buy it. I wish you all the luck, I absolutely adored this story and I'm so excited for it to be told on it's own.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say though that I know one of my Professor's plans on publishing a novel but is waiting since a lot of publishing companies are having issues because of the economy. So if this doesn't work out for you soon, please don't be discouraged and try again.
Good Luck!

Very selfishly, I really hope you get it published! I want to read it again soooo bad :) Good Luck MTK, you totally deserve it!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news Hun!! I can't wait to read the entire story. I am kicking myself in the ass for not reading it earlier when I had the chance. I wish you the best of luck. You are one of my favorite authors when it comes to fan fiction stories. You have such remarkable talent that it would be a shame and a deep insult if anyone rejects you. The 1st chapter to Poughkeepsie had me hook, line and sinker. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to eventually purchasing a copy of your story my dear. I humbly bow down to you to pay homage to that uniquely witty and creative mind of yours. ;)

I am so proud of you! This was on my top 5 for a long time and when the story got pulled, I pulled it because I mean really, why recommend a story others can't experience.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm working on changing up my recs and I decided to put Poughkeepsie back in there. I have confidence one day it will be published and I will be right there to purchase it. This was (is) an awesome story!
I took a Twi-fic break and was seriously bummed when I realized that you had taken this down! I really hope you get it published!
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best of luck getting this published. I'm late to the party so I never got to read this but I look forward to buying it.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! I didn't get to read Poughkeepsie, but I've heard it's awesome, so I'll be first in line at Amazon.com when it gets published.
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt you'll succeed!
Easily one of the best stories I have ever read, fanfic notwithstanding.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing that you've been contracted, and I'll be one of the first in line to buy. Much love to you!
